Air New Zealand is the national airline and flag carrier of New Zealand based in Auckland, New Zealand. It was established in 1940 as Tasman Empire Airways Limited (TEAL). In 1965, it was fully owned by the New Zealand government and renamed as Air New Zealand. It was largely privatized in 1989 but 2001 it was fully owned by government.
